The quality of the mug is outstanding. The mug has a bright sheen and stands up very well to repeated washings in the dishwasher. The subject matter is based on Alaska field work performed by a famous USGS geologist, Charles Doolittle Walcott. I was very pleased with the quality of printing on this mug. The images used for many of the Geology Works mugs are scanned from photographs that are more than 140 years old. Despite this technicality, Zazzle does an outstanding job of bringing out the details of the image through attention to sharp focus.

I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
