Alaska Glacier Photo Postcard
Margerie Glacier is a 21 mile long glacier in Glacier Bay National Park in Alaska. The glacier begins on the southern slopes of Mount Root on the Alaska–Canada border flowing down to Tarr Inlet. The width of the glacier is approximately 1 mile and the height about 350 feet.
Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is in the Alaska panhandle west of Juneau. It was declared a National Monument in 1925, a National Park and Preserve in 1980, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve in 1986 and a World Heritage Site in 1992. Most of Glacier Bay is designated wilderness area.
