Each case is then polished to a mirror finish before being plated with 5 layers of various metals. Then 2 layers of 24k gold or 950 platinum are coated on the aluminum case. The same engineers reassemble the phone and complete a 38 point testing process. The coating of either pure gold or platinum is amongst the thickest and most generous in the industry.
