A Plumeria Puzzle

Tropical Flowers - When I want to work on something different, or not grown in my part of the world, I have to make a trip or two to the local florist and greenhouse. This trip I did not come home empty-handed! One look at the Plumeria and you will know what should be the most significant meaning of this flower. Its beauty, charm and grace. Plumeria flowers with their colours and fragrance symbolize natural beauty. Living Artwork. I learned, Plumeria flowers are most fragrant at night in order to lure moths to pollinate them. The flowers have no nectar, and simply dupe their visitors. Moths inadvertently pollinate them by transferring pollen from flower to flower in their fruitless search for nectar. Plumeria tattoos are probably one of the hottest tattoo designs out there. Not that I'm encouraging any to run out and get one, but this is a design that has been a large part of many Pacific island cultures including the Hawaiian, the Polynesian and the Mayans. The plumeria flower has a deep history in these cultures. A great deal of symbolism and meaning has been associated with this flower. In the Hawaiian culture it symbolizes everything good. The flower is also a symbol of Spring and therefore is associate with birth and life. When you look carefully at many of the ancient artworks from Hawaii you will find that the plumeria even though it is a smaller flower is often right beside the hibiscus in popularity. Hmmm. Hibiscus. Another flower for another project!
