A Highborn couple and playful fauns dancing Postcard

A delightful and amusing illustration by Danish golden age illustrator - Kay Nielsen. Interestingly enough, this ink and watercolor drawing never made it to the printing press of the book and is the original predecessor to the official frontispiece of the 1913 edition of “In Powder and Crinoline.” They changed the central illustration yet kept intact the same floral border. I often wonder WHY and suspect it had to do with the playful dancing fauns at the bottom of the hill having a good time! Hungry for more unique ART NOUVEAU masterpieces?
