I photographed this intriguing lion face while wandering through the streets of Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. It was an architectural detail on the front door of a city home. I was immediately reminded of Ebeneezer Scrooge's encounter with the Ghost of Christmas Past in the face of a door knocker. Please note that although the shadows and highlights of the photograph make the lion appear three-dimensional, it is actually flat.
