ABOUT THIS PICTURE: Campground host and avid photographer Vickie says, “I was down at Sage Creek taking pictures of the incoming storm. Other folks hurried back to the cabin to avoid getting wet. I’d just arrived and was prepared to get wet. Well... the storm looked ominous. I started home, but was pelted by hail. Walking back to my cabin, I thought I'd take shelter with the goats, but decided instead to go home quickly. Lightning seemed imminent and I wanted to be in my house for that. I was hurrying past the east hayfield when over my shoulder I saw great enormous mammatus clouds overhead. I was awestruck. I knew what they were because I had read about them. I kept shooting while being pelted with hail and watching out for lightning!! My advice: Always look around when you are outside. You might miss something wondrous!!! And do be careful in lightning storms.” || Vickie lives on 440-acre Cedar Mountain Farm in North Idaho. Filled with mountains and hay fields and wild flora and fauna, the farm offers localized weather with dramatic clouds, scenic vistas, and ongoing interactions with wildlife.
