Five-seven paulownia watch

The Paulownia Crest was second only to the Chrysanthemum Crest in terms of authority. Among Paulownia Crests, the 'five-seven' paulownia was likely used as the Imperial Crest as early as the end of the Kamakura period. It was bestowed by the Imperial Family upon the Ashikaga clan, and subsequently upon Oda Nobunaga and Hashiba Hideyoshi. Later, the Paulownia Crest became widespread, including among those who used it improperly.
