Three Day Salute This is one of my many Breast Cancer Awareness pictures. My amazing wife Tina was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in December of 2004. After a gruelling 18 months of treatments, culminating in bilateral mastectomy and permanent implants, we walked in the 2006 Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer 3-Day. This charity fundraising event is a 60 mile walk that is spread over three days. At closing ceremonies, all the Breast Cancer Survivors gather in a circle, surrounded by the rest of the walkers. At the 2006 event, we all held up 3 fingers, to signify the three days, as a tribute to the Survivors. At subsequent walks, we would take off one sneaker and hold it up (another picture for another day). The hand in the forefront is intended to tell most of this tale, to be in focus, while the others blur into the background, suggesting one of many. The hand in the front is actually modelled after the hand of my oldest stepdaughter, Kristi-Lynn. I will donate my proceeds from this work to Breast Cancer Research, Programming, and Awareness.
