1914 Map, San Jose to Soquel Poster

This is an enlarged print of a map from an early auto guide book published in 1914. This map is of the old Santa Cruz Highway that went from Los Gatos to Santa Cruz. This road was later replaced by highway 17. It includes San Jose, Campbell, Los Gatos, Soquel, Capitola and the little town of Alma that was later flooded by the Lexington Reservoir. It includes fun photos of a few landmarks along the way; Saloon in Soquel, water tanks, "pole", and Winchester Station (see detail for these photos). Other landmarks noted on the map are the Hotel Redwood, Summit Hotel, Burrell Gas station, and notes on the steep grades. This version includes a "printed" green mat border and title that makes it ready to frame. It is set for a 16 x 20 size. If you want 16 x 20, select customize or “add image and text” and set to 16x20. There is also a version of this with a plain white background and title. The “Hamilton’s Illustrated Auto Roadmap” book had 200 strip maps of California and included small photos of landmarks along the way. Published before the days of AAA books and guides.
