Obverse of the Series 1896 Silver Certificate "Science presents Steam and Electricity to Commerce and Manufacture" The Series of 1896 United States Silver Certificates (issued in $1, $2, and $5 denominations) marked a significant departure from any previous design of U.S. paper currency. All three denominations depict neoclassical allegorical vignettes. The 1896 Silver certificates are often referred to as the Educational Series because of the name given to the $1 denomination (History Instructing Youth). "PD-Art (PD-USGov-money)"

I was originally happy about my purchase and Nana loved the gift. HOWEVER, the description specifically says that these are microwave and dishwasher safe, BUT the first time Nana put this mug in the dishwasher it was destroyed. Not impressed..
