The Palace of Mechanic Arts or Machinery Hall was a massive building that dominated the southern end of Chicago’s 1893 Columbia Exposition, A.K.A. “the white city”. Twice as large as the US Capitol building this edifice not only housed exhibits of all of the latest mechanical marvels but also contained the boiler room the generated the power that put the white in white city.
