The Administration Building was designed by Richard Morris Hunt, known as the dean of American architecture. It was the lavishly appointed nerve center of the 1893 Columbia Exposition, and where the money was kept. This brilliantly lit night scene must have been an awesome spectacle to a people whom the concept of electricity was still a new thing.
