1870s Aesthetic French Longwy Peacock Repro Tile

19th Century Aesthetic Longwy Bird Dogwood Repro Ceramic Tile This tile is reproduced from an antique French tile from circa 1870. The vividly colored tile features a peacock with flowers against a crackled look white background. In your choice of 4.5 inch or 6 inch tiles as well as other items. Asian inspired French tiles made in Longwy were laboriously covered with layers of molten enamel to create the saturated colors that are then glazed and carved to create the look of cloisonne. Longwy ceramics have been made since 1798. Nice enough to frame and hang on a wall, use as a wall tile, trivet, coaster, or place it on a small easel as an objet d'art. Also makes great backsplashes and wall tiles for kitchen, laundry, bath or shower. Note that, although this tile looks as dimensional as the original, this reproduction is actually flat, printed in a faux relief or trompe l'oeil ("fool the eye") style that captures the look of the carved detailing of the original on a smooth surfaced ceramic tile.
