【うえすぎざさ】竹に雀紋は、公卿においては勧修寺家一門、武家においては上杉氏が用いた紋章であるため、したがってその分布は勧修寺家および上杉氏の関係のあった地方に限られている。すなわち公家の勧修寺家は京都に限られ、武家の上杉氏は相模を本拠とし、武蔵・上野・越後・奥羽に及んだ。しかしながらこの紋章は、牡丹についで名誉の紋章として取り扱われたものであったため、これを授受したものは、長尾（上杉）・伊達・最上などの豪族に限られて、臣下にこれを与えたということも他の紋章に比べて少なかったので、巴・九曜などの紋章のように、すべて地方的な分布を示すにいたった。（「日本紋章学」）／作図にあたっては各種の紋帳を参考の上、雀の嘴が阿吽の状態に描いている。(2013/4/1)

Just received my aprons that are gifts doe good friends and I am impressed by the quality of print, the fabric and build of the aprons. The pocket at the bottom of the apron which is 24" lengthwise will be quite useful.
