Citizens of Maynard County, Kansas are concerned when a fissure in the earth produces a lake of molten lava--but fears subside when the lake stabilizes and members of the media and scientific community give the all clear. Peace and happiness reign again--until an unforeseen phenomenon threatens to tear the small community apart . . . and burn it to the ground in the process!
