Okita of Naniwa-ya ~ Vintage Japanese Ukiyo-e Art Refrigerator Magnet
An elegant Nippon Ukiyo-e Woodcut or Woodblock image from 1793 titled Naniwaya okita or Okita of Naniwa-ya. Print shows Naniwaya Okita, a teahouse waitress, half-length portrait, turned to the left, carrying a bowl on a tray. Ukiyo e translate literally "pictures of the floating world" is a genre of Japanese woodblock prints or woodcuts and paintings produced between the 17th and the 20th centuries, featuring motifs of landscapes, tales from history, the theatre, and pleasure quarters. It is the main artistic genre of woodblock printing in Nihon. Ukiyo-e refers to a conception of an evanescent world, impermanent, fleeting beauty and a realm of entertainments (kabuki, courtesans, geisha) divorced from the responsibilities of the mundane, everyday world. At The Vintage Vamp we obtain high quality images of vintage artwork. Then we use state of the art technology and editing to bring back to life the most compelling images from the past. Unlike a lot of reproductions sold on the Internet, ours have been refurbished to bring out the original colours and fix as many imperfections as possible. We use only PNG format and the largest PPI (pixels per inch) possible, which is the very best for printing. This assures that your image will print with the highest quality possible, no matter what size you choose. Credit: Library of Congress
