It is widely believed that according to the Mayan calendar, the world is due to end on December 21st, 2012. This is in part because the ancient stone calendar abruptly curtails its predictions and references to the future at that point. Who knows, maybe they just ran out of stone to fit more information in and we'll discover a 2nd stone calendar in November 2011. (I'm an optimist). Either way, the Mayan culture has held modern Man's awe and admiration for centuries and no doubt, will continue to do so long after New Year's day of 2013.
