L'Innocence Poster
This captivating painting depicts the Virgin Mary holding the sleeping baby Jesus and a lamb together in her arms. Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth; Like a lamb that is led to slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, So He did not open His mouth. Isaiah 53:7 is a prophecy of Jesus, the Lamb of God. The Israelites during the time of Moses (Exodus 12) were instructed by God to eat an unblemished lamb and smear the blood upon their door frames. As the angel of death went throughout the land of Egypt, killing the firstborn of each home; the homes who had eaten the lamb and put the blood on their door posts and lintel would be "passed over" or spared. This is the Passover. Jesus is the new Passover lamb, sent to save us from sin and death. We also are meant to share in the Eucharist, the body and blood of Jesus, the lamb of God.
