Picture of George Washington with words: "Separation of church and state? GEORGE SAYS YES: 'The government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion.'" For the first amendment lover, or anyone who doesn't want people poking their religion into the laws. I always apprecitate feedback, whether comments, ratings, reviews, or contacts. (Quote is not by Washington himself, but from a treaty written during his Administration. Thus, I'm moving it away from the other political shirts.)

What the law actually says is that congress can't pass any laws regarding religion. So it's all the "you-can't-worship-in-thus-and-so-a-way-in-thus-and-so-a-place" type stuff that people are so strongly against.

Also, I think that quote was actually originally directed toward Muslim pirates who were attacking us with an "eat or be eaten" attitude. So the context was "Hey, we're not planning a holy war here."

Other George Washington quotes indicate that he wasn't one to keep his Christianity in the closet, and I'm absolutely sure that the principles our founders used to draft the constitution were based in Christianity. So I think that's the distinction that needs to be made: Bible-inspired standards = yes, mandatory Christianity = no.
