It was a beautiful and warm August day, with a few clouds against a mostly clear blue sky. There was very little wind that day and the mountains, the forest green of the trees lining the edge of the lake, the blue sky and clouds, all reflected off the glass like surface of the lake as if it were a mirror. The stillness of the mountain grandeur of the Colorado Rockies was all around us.

A picture perfect day for a drive along the Mount Evans Scenic Byway that passes by Echo Lake, at an elevation of 10,600 feet, and climbs to within a couple hundred feet or so of the summit of Mount Evans. We enjoyed the picturesque landscape of the mountains and lake before resuming our drive towards the summit, which is at an elevation of 14,264 feet.
