DNA Gel Electrophoresis Magnet by Justin_Directory
This is a photograph from a Gel Electrophoresis i did. It comes out with some fantastic patterns and gradients. The method is where DNA which has been cut with an enzyme is seperated using an electrical charge. The fragments of DNA which are the smallest will travel further (higher up) in a particular time. The smudges are where there is too many fragments of DNA to tell the different sized bands apart. From right to left, the dna is from: a 1.6 kB ladder (to measure the rest against), the next two both mamalian DNA, and the others from a bacteria. And even if you didn't find that interesting, it just looks cool!
