The last words of Socrates have historically been a matter of contention, particularly because of how profoundly lacklustre they seemed. He merely mentions that his friend mustn't forget to pay off his rooster debt. He may have been speaking metaphorically. Most importantly, however, is that college students studying this historic event have surely got debt on their own mind!
