Crossroads Blues Devil Mug by oldrockerdude
Known as the birthplace of the blues, the Mississippi Delta is rich with history. Clarksdale, Mississippi is home to the Delta Blues Museum and also home to the famous Crossroads, where Highway 61 crosses Highway 49, where the famed Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul to the devil to be able to play the blues. If you get down Mississippi Delta way, expect to see rich and beautiful farm lands combined with a deep history of poverty and suffering that gave soul to the lyrics of the blues. The small Delta towns are as long suffering as the people but have deep roots and linger on through sheer strength of will--will of the people, that is, both poor and rich alike. Clarksdale is home to famous blues clubs as well as dive bars and pool halls that sit along side eclectic boutiques, music stores, good down home eateries with some of the best food around, and much rich history to be found.
