In her 1854 volume History of Newburyport, Euphemia Vale Blake describes the flag of the Newburyport Independent Marine Company, formed in September of 1774, as having a blue anchor on a red field, supported by a pine tree and an olive branch. For the first time anywhere, Vexillophile offers this newly recovered flag, presented here crossed with the American flag!
