The Huichol or Wixáritari (Huichol pronunciation: /wiˈraɾitaɾi/) are a Native American ethnic group of western central Mexico , living in the Sierra Madre Occidental range in the Mexican states of Nayarit , Jalisco , Zacatecas , and Durango .
