The bull is a symbol of physical and mental strength, of 'bull-headed' perseverance. Like other animals with similar characteristics it also represents virility and fertility. The bull also represented wealth, since its presence in the lives of the Celts meant abundance and plenty. This image is based on those that were carved on the ramparts of the Pictish fort at Burghead on the Moray Coast of Scotland.
