This is from the illustrated cover of the American vintage book, ‘Abroad’ by Thomas Crane and Ellen Houghton, published in 1882 by Marcus Ward & Co. - A high spot of Victorian colour printing. The book was about a family of Victorian children on their first trip abroad, a visit to Northern France and Paris. The illustrations serve excellent examples of the styles and architecture around the time period of 1882. Thomas Crane was the Art Director for Marcus Ward & Co; Houghton was his cousin.
