The Mythical Sphinx was a popular image in many cultures. In Ancient Egypt, she was a temple guardian and that is how I have depicted her in this piece.

Usually portrayed with a lion’s body and woman’s head, I chose to portray her with a cheetah’s body. I did this because a cheetah is a sleeker and a more athletic cat than lion. In my mind, she would make for a better guardian.
